Path of Exile is an online Action RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. We’re a small independent team of hardcore gamers based in New Zealand and have created Path of Exile as the game that we’d want to play ourselves. It is designed around a strong barter-based online item economy, deep character customisation, competitive PvP and ladder races. The game is completely free and will never be “pay to win”.

This is a filler review after all the movie reviews being posted. 

I may not be seen as someone pro on online games but I do love my games, whether it maybe online or offline; rpg or fps; multi-player or solo.

Path of Exile is a game I played after my Dragon Nest client crashed and during my Atlantica Online (might have to do a review for it sometime) days.

Okay, so here we go!


Plot/Story : 

So far so good. The developer of this game is quite imaginative and is a certified gamer. The plot/story may not change during the three difficulties (normal, cruel, merciless) you might encounter after Act 3 (which is the latest map and story line released by the Grinding Gear Games). I might have given it a 5-star if the story line has been completed which unfortunately is not yet; so might as well play safer and try the game more before giving it a five~!


The battle system is quite newbie friendly. There is a tutorial as much as any other MMORPG on how to use basic commands and skills. I read so many forums and even my friend told me that the battle system is quite similar to Diablo 2, but much better. I have yet to play Diablo series but I might say I like this way better than similar battle systems like Wizardy Online or Neverwinter. The thing that gets me the most is that there is this skill tree map that is very similar to FFX skill nodes. And that you can only increase passive skills and attributes if you get the requirements for that specific nodes. The difficulty of creating your own build is like 1:120 kind of builds.


Game Control System:
Easy to grasp, especially if you are a Diablo player, I presume. But as I have said it is quite a gamer friendly game. A game made by gamers for gamers. So, nothing really new or outstanding but it is at par with the latest games in the world right now.



Well, for a dark game, the BGM is quite a match. No memorable songs like in FF series nor anything close to memorable but it’s music kinda struck you in someway. When you hear it, you will know that it is Path of Exile.



I think the visual is as smooth as the developers try it to be. I’ve got no complaints, but it could be better.

I am currently playing a Witch in Chaos Innoc build here at level 55. I am loving the difficulty and challenge that this game is embodying. I might continue playing my Witch if my Scion doesn’t become promising. I hope you could try it too. The IM items got no additional stats and purely decorative; thus, making the promise of “never being paid-to-win game” looks promising. You get to talk to people a lot for item bartering because it got no official currency. A really nice game made for gamers who are not quite fan of spending real-time cash to be strong in-game.
