Movie Review | The Game (1997)

Director: David Fincher
Writers: John D. Brancato, Michael Ferris
Stars: Michael Douglas, Deborah Kara Unger and Sean Penn

Well, this was my third time watching this movie. And Psychological movies like this that makes you think ahead really never fails to amaze me. Though sometimes, I kind of compare this one to Total Recall (1990)Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite movies of all times, The Game.

Visual/Special Effects:

There’s not much of a visual or special effects in this movie. More like any other action, psychological, thriller movie you see. So, it may break my heart to do this but objectively it really has low score on this department. The only visual effect would be the grafitti that has been done inside the mansion and the falling of Mr.Van Orton (Michael Douglas) from the rooftop down.

There aren’t any last song syndrome going on with me after watching this movie. But, I must commend the whole production for such amazing BGM which really led me on how climactic the event is. It really makes you feel like you are in The Game itself if you here such music. And, there are some silent scenes which makes you jump if there’s something that’s going to fall real loud. LOL

I told you! This is one of my favorite movie. Though not really a candidate for memorable lines. But, the whole script just keep my mind running full time while watching it. Especially, when everyone looks and acts the part, as if they don’t know what’s happening. ~(^_^~)

Well, hell! This is one of my favorite movies. Of course, you will know my score. LOL. The fast phasing and ultra paranoia of the characters in the story really got me involve. I was wishing the whole time that there is a company like CRS here and would love to be part of it… or be part of the Game. Though, there might be some slow moments in the story, it just heighten the suspense and the curiousity of the audience (including me!). With how the twist and turns are going on every moment, I also try to twist and go with the flow to find out the truth behind the game (which ironically, was already stated from the start, LOL). Though I think for some people might find it hard to understand the whole lesson or plot behind the movie (I know, I experienced it too!) but still I bow down! (^_^)d

I told you, the characters are good at acting their part. They are really good in looking innocent and naive, at the same time guilty and foreboding. Even during the last part when everything seems to be at roof’s end (literally) they can still act their part. Watch it, you’ll see what I’m telling you!

Well… with all the all-star cast like Sean Connery and Michael Douglas you can expect the best. And, with how they take their roles to heart, could easily convey the feelings of their characters to the audience.

Till the ending, there are still so many twists going on and the thrill and climactic effect is still so great that I feel like going over the edge with Mr. Van Orton. But, I would’ve expect a far more conclusive ending than just a goodbye with Catherine/Claire (the girl that is catalystic to the ending). However, very fine twists and turns there. (^_^)d

Well, I’ve re-watched it 3 times and it never fails to amaze me. No other words needed! GREAT!
